Candle Care

First Burn

On the first burn your candle for at least 2-3 hours, or long enough to fully melt the top layer of wax evenly across the entire surface, creating what is known as a full ‘melt pool’. This prevents tunneling and ensures your candle burns evenly throughout its candle life.

General Safety Tips

Never burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time as the vessel can overheat and potentially crack.

Always leave 1cm of wax at the bottom of the candle vessel to avoid the glass overheating to avoid vessel cracking or cause fire.

Always burn your candle in sight, placed on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface and avoid vibrations. Avoid exposure to drafts and direct sunlight.

Vessels may become hot, never burn a candle on or near anything flammable, especially please be mindful of placement near window dressings & floor coverings.
Never leave your candle unattended or burn in reach of small children or pets – especially long tails!

Keep your candle free of all foreign objects to prevent fire hazards.

Be cautious when extinguishing the flame, do not use a lid to extinguish, if possible use a candle snuffer to prevent splashing of the wax or blow out gently. Allow the jar and wax to cool completely before touching or moving.

Candle burn times will vary depending on the vessel, size, fragrance, colour, burning habits and environmental conditions affect the time a candle will last.

Candle care tips and advice are provided as a guide on how to best maintain your candles and wicks for longevity, it is very important that candle warning labels are followed for safety.

Trim The Wick

Trim the wick before every burn to 5mm before relighting, as this prevents a large flame and the wick from mushrooming or smoking which can create black sooty smoke.

If the vessel becomes discoloured or blackened while burning, extinguish the candle, allow it to cool and clean with a dry paper towel.

After Care

Our candle vessels are all reusable, once the candle is finished rinse out with hot soapy water, discarding all unused wax. Do not microwave to melt wax as the metal wick base may still be inside the vessel.

Remove the label, wick sticker and wick tab from the candle then they are ready to be repurposed! Some good uses are glasses, jewellery keeper or vase! Enjoy!
